There is only one thing about compact fluorescent I would like to stress warning on. The proper disposal of these light bulbs, due to MERCURY! There needs to be better recycling programs created by the Sellers of these bulbs and our Governments. And so far, the only seller taking the initiative is IKEA. We strongly thank and support the forward thinking of this company.

Here’s what the EPA website has on Mercury light recycling.

LED Lighting has many benefits. Energy Efficiency is key. LED lights burn cool, while incandescent waste 98 percent of its energy on heat. You don’t have to be too bright to see these advantages. Incandescent light bulbs may last around 1,000 hours and fluorescent are good for around 10,000 hours. But, LED lights can last from 50,000 to 100,000 hours. Making it the leader in long life. The lumens/watt ratio for LED’ is on par with fluorescents at 55. While incandescent are only about 15.
